— A note from the workshop

Each piece, twice restored: once by us, once by time.

We spend an unusual amount of time on every piece that passes through our workshop. A Mogensen lounge chair that arrives from auction in Copenhagen will spend, on average, eight weeks with us before it's listed for sale. Most of that time it's sitting still — leather oils penetrating, joinery glue setting, finishes curing the way they would have in 1958.

We won't list anything we wouldn't put in our own house. We've turned down a lot of furniture over the years, and we'll keep doing it. A "vintage" tag is meaningless without the work that has to come after it.

— Our restorationFrom auction to your door.

01

Sourced

We attend twelve auctions a year across Northern Europe. Every piece is hand-selected by Erik before bidding — never bought from photos alone.

02

Documented

Each piece is authenticated against original catalogues and maker stamps. We commission a written provenance document for every item over $2,000.

03

Restored

Joinery, finish, and upholstery work happens in our Hudson workshop. We restore — we don't refinish. The patina stays. The structural integrity gets back to original.

04

Delivered

White-glove delivery by our team for the New York tri-state area; insured freight to the rest of the continental US. Two-person setup included.

— What buyers sayFrom our clients.

"The Mogensen chair arrived perfectly packed and looking like it had been in our living room for sixty years. Erik's restoration is invisible in the best possible way."

Mogensen 2204

"I've bought from major auction houses for fifteen years. The level of documentation Knot & Plinth provides is at or above what I get from Sotheby's, at a fraction of the cost."

"Their 14-day return policy gave us the courage to buy a $4,000 floor lamp sight-unseen. It's now the favorite object in our house. We've since bought two more pieces."
